Introduction to the Protection Function of Polymer Lithium Battery BMS.
The governance system for energy polymer lithium batteries can effectively monitor, maintain, balance energy, and issue fault alarms for polymer lithium battery packs, thereby improving the efficiency and service life of all energy polymer lithium battery packs. Polymer lithium batteries are widely used in various sophisticated devices due to their high operating voltage, small size, light weight, high energy density, no memory effect, no contamination, low self discharge, long cycle life, and many other advantages. When the smart battery is in a charging and discharging state and the detected current exceeds 3A, if it is still greater than 3A after a delay of 0.2s, it is judged as overcurrent. At this time, maintain the circuit cut-off and discharge maintenance switch. The prerequisite for disassembly and maintenance is to connect the charger. When a connected charger is detected, remove the overcurrent maintenance, otherwise the smart battery will remain in maintenance condition. The BMS battery management system is responsible for controlling the charging and discharging of batteries, as well as estimating their condition.
It enables battery condition monitoring, analysis, insurance maintenance, energy management, and information management. Polymer lithium batteries have disadvantages such as poor safety and occasional occurrence. Especially for polymer lithium batteries with lithium cobalt oxide as the positive material, they cannot discharge at high currents and have poor safety. In addition, moderate charging or discharging of almost all types of polymer lithium batteries can cause irreversible damage to the battery cells. Polymer lithium batteries are also sensitive to temperature: if used at excessively high temperatures, it may cause electrolyte decomposition, incineration, and even; Low temperature will significantly deteriorate the various functions of polymer lithium batteries, affecting the abnormal utilization of the equipment. When the battery voltage exceeds 4.2V or the total voltage exceeds 16.8V during the charging process, it is judged that the battery is in an overcharge condition. At this point, maintain the circuit by cutting off the charging maintenance switch. Under overcharge release conditions, the voltage of each battery is less than 4V. The BMS battery management system may collect, process, and store important information during the operation of the battery pack in real time, exchange information with external devices such as controllers, and solve key issues such as safety, availability, ease of use, and service life in polymer lithium battery systems. The important role is to potentially improve the utilization rate of batteries, avoid moderate charging and discharging of batteries, extend the service life of batteries, and monitor the condition of batteries. To put it bluntly, it is a system for managing, controlling, and utilizing battery packs.
The battery management system is seamlessly integrated with the energy polymer lithium battery of electric vehicles. Real time detection of battery voltage, current, and temperature is carried out through sensors, as well as leakage detection, thermal treatment, battery balancing treatment, alarm prompts, calculation of residual capacity (SOC) and discharge power, and presentation of battery degradation level (SOH) and residual capacity (SOC) status. The output power is controlled by algorithms based on the voltage, current, and temperature of the battery to obtain the driving range, and the charging machine is controlled by algorithms to charge the current. Real time communication is carried out with the vehicle's main controller, motor controller, energy control system, and vehicle display system through CAN bus interface.
