Cylindrical lithium batteries are circular lithium batteries, usually referring to cylindrical 18560 lithium batteries. Cylindrical lithium batteries are the most extensively researched and analyzed battery variety with the most comprehensive technical discussions. A single component is mainly composed of a positive electrode, a negative electrode, a separator, a positive and negative electrode collector, a valve, an overcurrent protection device, insulation components, and a casing. Shell, there were many steel shells in the early days, and now aluminum shells are dominant

18650 lithium batteries
Cylindrical lithium batteries can be divided into lithium cobalt oxide batteries, lithium manganese oxide batteries, and ternary materials. Each of the three material systems of batteries has its own advantages, and batteries are commonly used in fields such as laptops, digital cameras, lighting equipment, children's toy products, pneumatic tools, and portable mobile energy. Advantages of cylindrical lithium batteries:

1. Single consistency is good
In other words, it can also be mass-produced, manufactured, and processed in large quantities. Battery manufacturers have mature and perfect technology, and cylindrical lithium batteries have a high daily production capacity (just like energy battery manufacturers producing and processing 200000 cylindrical lithium batteries per day)

2. Cylindrical lithium batteries have high durability, safety, and are not prone to explosion

Compared with square and soft pack batteries, a closed cylinder with similar dimensions can achieve the highest bending strength due to its good mechanical properties; Good sealing performance, not easy to explode. The technology is mature and the cost is low, but at the same time, the space for optimizing production costs has already been exhausted;

3. High energy density
When a single energy is small and a safety accident occurs, the form is easy to control, but this is also becoming a reason for its replacement (as the popular saying goes, what achieves you will also destroy you, and what cannot kill you will make you strong, the same goes for things)

4. Low internal resistance
Greatly reduces the self consumption of batteries, increases the battery life of smartphones, and can fully reach the level of international standards. This type of polymer lithium battery, which is compatible with high discharge current, is an ideal choice for remote control models and has become the most promising enterprise product to replace nickel hydrogen batteries.

5. Widely applicable
Laptops, handheld walkie talkies, portable disc players, instrumentation equipment, audio equipment, model airplanes, laptops, digital cameras, lighting equipment, children's toy products, pneumatic tools and other electronic devices are important combinations of the lithium battery family. 18650 batteries were widely used in consumer electronics products in earlier years. In recent years, with the strong rise of new energy electric vehicles, 18650 batteries have also begun to be used in the new energy electric vehicle industry. Disadvantages of cylindrical lithium batteries:

1. Single system software level of cylindrical lithium battery is high
In the context of new energy electric vehicles, the number of cylinders in the battery system software is very large, which greatly increases the complexity of the battery system software. Regardless of the organization or management system, for the other two types of batteries, the production cost of cylindrical batteries at the system software level is relatively high;

2. The probability of characteristic differentiation of cylindrical lithium battery cells increases
Under uneven working temperature conditions, the probability of a large number of battery cell characteristics being differentiated increases. However, I believe that Tesla chose 18650 at the beginning of its design, which was just a helpless choice. This is because ten years ago, only cylindrical batteries could be mass-produced as qualified power batteries. The safety and thermal management requirements of batteries are actually the driving force behind the development of their powerful electronic control systems.

3. The space for increasing energy density is already very small
The room for increasing energy density is already very small. Chaowei has achieved a single capacity of 4050 milliampere hours and a cell specific energy of 306 Wh/kg, and has not seen any higher records since then. Only by continuously optimizing materials within a given space can there be a better way out.
